Walnut Creek Open Space

Borges Ranch is nestled in the foothills of Mount Diablo at the southeast side of Shell Ridge. It was established in 1899 by Francisco Borges and his family and is a great example of an early 20th century central California cattle ranch. Today many of the original buildings and structures still exist including the Borges family home which is one of seven structures  placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981. A number of farm animals call the ranch home including goats, chickens, pigs, and sheep cared for by Pleasant Hill 4-H.

Mt. SAC-Randall Planetarium

Ever since the planetarium opened in the spring of 1968, our mission has been to bring the joy of discovering the cosmos to people of all ages.

Lemon Creek Bicentennial Park

N Avenida Alipaz, Walnut, CA 91789

In 1976, this Park was a Bicentennial gift to the City from the residents of Walnut. The William R. Rowland Adobe Ranch House at Lemon Creek Park was restored, and the antiques inside were donated by the Walnut Valley Woman’s Club. Funds for the BBQ at the Park were donated by the Junior Walnut Woman’s Club, and the fire pit was built by the Walnut Kiwanis Club. The Wisteria vine at the Park is over 175 years old.

Walnut Ranch Park

Built in 1984, this park was part of the Marlborough Housing Development project.  It has been home to the American Youth Soccer Organization for over 20 years.  In 2017, the playground was renovated.
